 - Abstract:
 - Combining macromolecular chemistry with supramolecular chemistry allows the design and construction of novel macromolecular architectures through self-assembly processes that utilize reversible non-covalent interactions. For this purpose supramolecular moieties have been added to the chain ends of block copolymers; both in the main chain as well as in selected blocks. As a result, chainextended high-molecular-weight polymers, block and graft copolymers were obtained, whose architectures were similar to those of classical covalent polymers. The major difference is the reversibility of the supramolecular compounds, which allows their easy disassembly back to their initial building blocks if certain conditions are met.
