- Abstract:
- The consequences of mesoionic carbene and carbanion donors on the electrochemical and photophysical properties of bis(tridentate) ruthenium(II) complexes were studied experimentally and computationally. The new ruthenium(II) complexes feature broad MLCT absorption bands in the visible-light region, relatively high photoluminescence quantum yields, and long excited-state lifetimes. Moreover, by alkylation or protonation, the 1,2,3-triazolide complex can be converted to the corresponding 1,2,3-triazolylidene complex. The performance of the complexes in the dye-sensitized solar cell has been tested.
